Road to Century Zero
CENTURY ZERO - A BITSY GAME
The Bitsy game creator was an interesting experience. Bitsy creator was incredibly easy to use, and this game creator draws focus on the architecture of creating a visual and narrative incentive experience, hence the majority of Bitsy’s fundamental functions and tools are drawing-based. Therefore, the intention for my game draws spotlight on its visual aesthetic story-telling, where player explores and uncovers the forgotten past and the beauty of their world. The status quo of this world is set in a calm society healed and reformed long-after from the chaotic global catastrophe called the Aftermaths. For the manifestation of the mood of this world, I want to draw emphasis on the tranquility of the current world while leaving ambiguity on both the evolved civilization and what has happened before the Aftermaths. Thus, I minimizes the interactivity of the game with only necessary dialogues for explanations and contexts, with almost no items to collect and active riddles to solve; players simply immerse themselves in the new world and appreciate the scenery, which are the dominant elements of the game, during this more experiential adventure than a game. The intentional ambiguity in this experience is to evoke player’s self imposed creativity and imagination that completes their individual and distinct narrative. I also incorporated a more pleasant and comfortable color template to match the mood of my game, along with a rather hypnotic background music.
